You must be living under a rock if you haven’t already been aware of how seriously the world is moving towards the climate crisis. The fact that the situation is deteriorating every minute you spend on this article speaks volumes that it’s high time now… that we must take responsibility to protect our nature.
We have only one earth and mars is far away. You must be wondering if the giants and big names of the world are not doing anything, what can we do?
Well, you can do your part.
Your efforts as a human living in this world will not change the whole direction of climate change, but it will make a difference. That is all that matters.
This is why I have put down 5 smart ways you can do your bit to conserve nature without spending hours and hours on it. Let’s check it out:
1. Make the 3 R’s a habit
I know you have read it all through your school, but have you ever implemented it? The 3 R’s is not as hard as you think. And once you make a habit of it, you will realize that it not only protects nature but makes your life easier too.
For example, you should always shop responsibly. Do not buy anything you don’t need immediately. This is because ultimately you tend throw it out and the burden falls on nature to decompose it.
Secondly, find ways to reuse your items. Take inspiration from YouTube and Pinterest. They tell you the best and unique way to reuse your old items for decoration, preserve items like everlasting roses etc.
Finally, recycle. Try to assemble all your used papers and send them to an organization that can recycle them, use plastic bottles to drink water again and refill your old stationery.
These are just a few of the many steps you can take towards the environment and avoid being a part of the problem.
2. Avoid fast fashion
According to research, an average person buys almost 40 items of clothing per year. Imagine the amount of mass production and the time it’s going to take to decompose them. It’s going to leave a huge carbon footprint on nature. But it can be avoided. How?
Reuse your clothing. Purchase items from the thrift store. You can even donate your items to the thrift store or better donate it.
This is a simple and smart way to conserve nature because the pre-loved items are already circulating in the society, without depending on the new ones.
3. Replace plastic bags with everything
Plastic has almost been a part of our everyday lives, that’s why it might seem very hard to rid of it. But know this fact, plastics take 100 years to decompose and the whole marine ecosystem has largely suffered due to it. So, how can you not contribute to it?
Get into a process, carry cloth bags, don’t throw your plastic straws or cups on streets. Save it. Once you slowly develop the habit of replacing plastics, you will be able to discard them in one go.
4. Switch to public transport
The automobile industry is blooming tremendously in recent years, and the proof of it can be seen every day on the roads. This contributes a lot to air pollution.
Instead of that, you can go for many sustainable options like traveling in buses or metros. You can even carpool with your friends if you are going to the same place of work or club.
5. Don’t waste water at all costs
I don’t think I have to remind you how much water is important for us to sustain. Yet very few of us are actually concerned to protect this valuable resource. And if you are not of them, please start today.
Close the tap while brushing, take a tap water bath, close the taps properly after use to ensure there’s no wastage through the leakage.
Over to you…
The world is already on the verge of collapsing due to the climate crisis and the impact can be seen on our day-to-day lives as well. Even when you don’t have the power to change the whole world, you can still do your part and contribute for the well-being of our beloved mother Earth.
