Despite a decrease in precipitation across much of New South Wales, the town of Forbes in that state has been affected hard by flooding, affecting the lives of thousands of residents.
On Friday evening, the level of the Lachlan River in the central-west town hit a major flood level when it reached a peak of 10.5 meters. As a result, access to the town’s economic center was shut off.
According to the State Emergency Service, the water had an impact on approximately 2200 residents of Forbes and 250 properties.
Benjamin Pickup, the commander of the southern zone of the NSW SES, stated that the Lachlan River and the Murrumbidgee River near Wagga Wagga were the rivers of primary concern in terms of flooding. Residents of nearby Narrandera and other low-lying districts were advised to prepare to evacuate.
